June
18, 2008 After
nearly a year of being terrible lazybonezes, we have now updated the lyrics
page to include the words from Through the Gash. In
other news, Hannah's music has over 165,000 plays and over 5,000 listeners on
last.fm.
June
11, 2008 Two
new reviews of Through the Gash have appeared! "...
stay with these songs and you'll be onto some sincere and, at times, beautifully
warped music..." The
Big Takeover (issue #62 on stands now!) "Hannah
Fury makes impossibly beautiful music..."
Pussyrock (issue #3 available now) In
other news: As promised, Hannah's debut full-length album The Thing That Feels
is no longer available. Once CD Baby and Amazon sell out of their last shipments,
The Thing That Feels will be officially out of print and only available
as a download. Hannah
had this to say about the sold-out status of the CD: "Those that didn't get it
are some foolish, foolish suckahs." We're
pretty sure that Hannah was just messing around when she said that because we
happen to know that she likes MP3s and often buys them herself.
May
19, 2008 A
new interview with Hannah is featured at Delusions
of Adequacy this week. We want to thank Jen for asking such great questions.
May
14, 2008 Alert!
The Thing
That Feels CD will only be available for a little while longer. So Step Right
Up and get yours while they last. Before the end of this month, it will be out
of print. You will still be able to purchase downloads, of course, but the actual
CDs will be gone. That's right: GONE. Forever. Or at least for a very long time. We
have no idea when it will be re-pressed. However, we do know that any re-release
will be different in some way. So if you want an original, get it now. You
can purchase The Thing That Feels from these supa-fine music retailers:

other news, Jo Gabriel

July
30, 2007 Through
the Gash is now available for pre-order at Amazon. There
has been a flurry of activity surrounding Hannah's music on Last.fm.
Thanks to everyone there who has made an effort to spread the word. It really
helps! Thank you especially to
Paul for writing a review of Through the Gash in his
Last.fm journal. Go over there and join the fun, people! Second
collection of Through the Gash reviews. (These are excerpts only. Please
click on the links to read the full reviews.) Ninthspace:
..."You
Don't Leave A Trace" was the first song from her new album Through The
Gash that owned me: ultimate rejection delivered through delicate shimmering
minimalism, in contrast to the piano pieces that dominated the early phase of
her career. Her unrivaled ability to twist or change the mood of a song on a single
note or measure is still present. "You Don't Leave A Trace" changes
entirely 220 seconds in and I can guarantee it will burst your heart.
Ninthspace SLUGmag: At
times recalling a slightly more sinister Julee Cruise and her collaborations with
Angelo Badalamenti Hannah Fury's releases have aptly been called "spooky,"
"creepy" and "disturbed." While many of those adjectives could
be placed upon Through the Gash, Fury's compositions are also beautiful,
hypnotic and far more substantial than a string of Halloween attributes...
Ryan Michael Painter of SLUGmag
Babysue/LMNOP: ...A
bit spooky and peculiar at times, Through the Gash is an intriguing collection
of modern moody pop delivered with unique style... Rating: Excellent
Babysue/LMNOP
Skyline
Press : ...This
puzzle of an album has so many different pieces that bring its macabre tone to
light (or darkness). Whether it be the chilling vocals that make your spine tingle,
or the columns of organ/piano that fill your ears, it's all pretty whimsical with
a twisted and subtle personality... Pernell of Skyline

July
16, 2007 First
reviews of Through the Gash! (These are excerpts only. Please click on
the links to read the full reviews.) High
Bias:Hannah
Fury continues to carve out her distinct musical vision with Through the Gash,
her first full-length album in seven years. Though loosely fitting under the recently
trendy "dark cabaret" banner (a term that didn't exist when she started),
the singer/songwriter's Tori Amos-meets-Tim Burton sound has always been her own...
As romantic as a William Blake poem but as ghostly as a Richard Matheson novel,
Through the Gash is Hannah Fury at her most darkly beautiful.
Michael Toland of High
Bias Muruch: ...The
mood of this new album is often quite different than that of her eerie 2000 release
The Thing That Feels. There are plenty of moments on the new disc that
do recapture that delicately uncanny sound, but many of the tracks alternate between
the dark electro-pop beats of Hannah's Subterfuge EP/DVD set and a lighter
tone that touches on the higher, more ethereal extremity of Hannah's layered vocals...
Muruch Treasure
. Hiding: Hannah
Fury's new CD, Through the Gash, explores the dark side of the female heart
in a variety of guises. The major theme here is revenge, swiftly followed by self-doubt,
all shot through with her trademark dark humor...

Hannah
was featured in the latest issue of Grok, Australia's largest college magazine.
Grok's editor, Melissa Davey, interviewed Hannah for the article last year.
We are thrilled that the article has been published now, just in time for the
release of Through the Gash. We couldn't be more excited! The
article was also picked up by Western Australian Woman magazine and was
published in the Arts and Culture section. Read it here. Hannah
is currently a featured artist on MXPlay.
You can download the mxplayer to hear "Beware the Touch" from Hannah's upcoming
album, Through the Gash. The player has truly exceptional sound quality,
and we highly recommend it.

April
30, 2007 We
know it's been a while, so we will take this opportunity to accost you with several
things at once. 1.
Site re-vamp! 2.
Hannah's album cover and title are revealed! The album is called Through the
Gash. It has 13 songs and will be released in August of this year. There will
be more information about the album over the next few weeks. See a larger picture
of the cover here.

And the newest installment of the "Ask Sennette"
advice column has been published.
February
19, 2007 New
jewels have been revealed. Go to the Boutique. Get
these now, 'cause everything is changing.
February
12, 2007 Thanks
so much to Michael who came through for Hannah with an inspired lead for the purchase
of brownish-yellow socks. And just in time, too, for Hannah's nagging was beginning
to drive us crazy. But now an order has been placed, and we anxiously await the
arrival of these supposed good-luck talismans. More news next week.
February
5, 2007 Things
always seem to take longer than we think they will, often for ridiculously vague
reasons. This time, however, the cause of the delay can easily be isolated: string
configurations. That's right, you heard us: string configurations -- evil
knots and fitful tangles, the horror of which we hope never to see again.
But there were other causes as well. Such as the packing tape! Oh, how it wounded
our delicate skin! And to make matters worse, the box was very large and unwieldy.
We tottered to the post office, balancing it between the three of us (Eudora,
Eustasia and myself). At times it seemed we would never get that monstrosity sent
away. But we finally did, and now we are pleased to announce that Hannah's "audio
and graphics materials" have made their way across the river to an undisclosed
location on the South Jersey shore. But
friends, please be forewarned. Hannah has decided to undertake what is commonly
known in the industry as an "advance promotion campaign," so the actual release
date is still a ways away. For the uninitiated, the term "advance promotion" refers
to the practice of sending out advance copies of the music to magazines and internet
publications in hopes of securing reviews. It is a widely held belief that this
advance receipt somehow encourages writers and editors to pay more attention to
the music. Perhaps it is the intoxicating feeling they get from being among the
first to respond to a CD's provocation, or perhaps it is simply that shelf-worn
music is considered less attractive. We cannot quite relate to how these media
people operate, but for the time being we are deferring to those who are "in the
know." Some of you may be aware that I have previously been in charge of securing
notices for Hannah's CDs. I feel that I have done fairly well, considering my
funds and resources. But Hannah appears to be displeased with my work. She insists
that my methods are "old-fashioned" and not "edgy" enough, and she will now be
outsourcing the responsibility to someone with more "established media relationships." Despite
this lofty charade of Hannah's, MellowTraumatic will be announcing an official
release date very soon. In
the meantime, we have a few tricks up our ruffled sleeves. Over the next few weeks,
please watch for judicious unveilings of the Mellow and Traumatic kind. It is
all in an effort to entertain you more loyal visitors. Sincerely, Kansas
Mayhem P.S.
If anyone has a pair of brownish-yellow socks (preferably knee socks or thigh-highs)
that they are willing to part with, Hannah is in the market. Any leads as to where
Hannah can obtain this coveted item will be greatly appreciated. Remember, brownish-yellow
is inexplicably the color that is desired.
January
15, 2007 Hello,
Ladies and Gentlemen. A
new year is upon us and we would like to wish you all the best for 2007. Hannah
is wracked with guilt over not being able to release her new album during the
2006 calendar year. A special apology goes out to A. Fries. He knows why. Hopefully,
Mr. Fries will be somewhat consoled by the fact that the as-yet-unreleased CD
has two songs which would not have been included had Hannah stuck to her original
2006 deadline. Indeed, two songs were written late in the proceedings, but Hannah
deemed them worthy of inclusion. Thus the additional delay. But
now we are happy to inform Mr. Fries and the rest of you that a 2007 release is
absolutely definite. Hannah completed the master on December 11, 2006, and she
has also completed the album cover artwork. She handed both over to MellowTraumatic
Headquarters just today. We are now busy arranging the items in an attractive
bundle to be packaged and shipped to the duplication plant. This requires lots
of tape and complex string configurations. But even so, the package should go
out in Wednesday's or Thursday's mail. A
release date will soon be announced. In
other news, we have uploaded a new installment of
"Ask Sennette."
